PhotoVoice Connect is a new online approach to participatory photography which enables online projects to be run anywhere in the world.

We offer online training catering for different timezones throughout the year. Please check the course times carefully before you book and contact us if you have any enquires about the next training dates suitable for your timezone. We will usually be running training courses at times suitable for US west coast in March and October and for Australia in April and September. 

PhotoVoice’s Comprehensive Online Training: 7th – 11th Feb 2022 – 2pm London (GMT)

This is an online adaptation of our comprehensive 3-day training run over a week. The hybrid learning format includes 3 interactive Zoom sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and self-paced independent learning on Tuesday and Thursday.

The training curriculum will cover the following:

  • What is participatory photography?
  • Photography as a participatory medium
  • Visual literacy
  • Workshop and project design practicalities
  • Facilitation skills
  • Ethics, informed consent and copyright
  • Understanding and working with risk
  • Creating a safe space
  • Working with text
  • Participatory editing

Training dates: 7th February – 11th February 2021
Live sessions days: via ZOOM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Live session times: 2:00pm – 5:50pm GMT (including three ~10 minute breaks)
Independent Learning: Tuesday and Thursday (2.5 hours of self-paced learning including videos, reading and independent assignments)

Maximum number of participants: 8-10

Training requirements:

  • Availability to attend all live sessions in full
  • Stable internet connection
  • Computer with webcam and microphone for live sessions
  • Installation of Zoom app
  • Cameraphone for making and sharing photos

Due to the interactive nature of the course, during the Zoom live sessions we would really appreciate if you have your cameras on at all times.

We are happy to announce that our renowned 3-day in person training is back. The training will be run over 3 full days in our new office in London

(Subject to Covid restrictions. If the course is cancelled your booking will be transferred to any future online or in person training of your choice, subject to availability. We suggest you book your travel closer to the time as we will not be responsible for any travel costs incurred if a cancellation had to be made.)
