This is an online adaptation of our comprehensive 3-day training run over a week. The hybrid learning format includes 3 interactive Zoom sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and self-paced independent learning on Tuesday and Thursday.

The training curriculum will cover the following:

  • Photography as a participatory medium
  • Visual literacy
  • Workshop and project design practicalities
  • Facilitation skills
  • Ethics, informed consent and copyright
  • Understanding and working with risk
  • Creating a safe space
  • Working with text
  • Participatory editing

Training dates: 27th November – 1st  December 2023
Live sessions days: via ZOOM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday
Live session times: 2pm – 5:50pm London (UTC+1) (including three ~10 minute breaks)
Independent Learning: Tuesday and Thursday (2 hours of self-paced learning including videos, reading and independent assignments)

Maximum number of participants: 10

Training requirements:

  • Availability to attend all live sessions in full
  • Stable internet connection
  • Computer with webcam and microphone for live sessions
  • Installation of Zoom app
  • Cameraphone for making and sharing photos

Due to the interactive nature of the course, during the Zoom live sessions we would really appreciate if you have your cameras on at all times. 

Discount Price: £475 for individuals: You can obtain an automatic discount if you sign up for one of our supporter schemes available to individuals and students. Course Content

The adapted online comprehensive course if the equivalent of our standard 3-day course which provides a comprehensive introduction to understanding, designing, managing and facilitating a participatory photography project. The course covers key aspects of participatory photography including practicalities, methodologies, ethics, participatory tools, facilitation and participatory frameworks.

The course will be delivered over 3 online zoom sessions which will take place within a one week period. The training will also incorporate independent learning in between each live session.

The course is suitable for a wide range of participants interested in social change and photography or digital media including: photographers, visual practitioners, voluntary sector and NGO staff, campaigners, statutory sector workers, researchers and academics.
